Many Lake Ontario shoreline property owners visited the New York State Mobile Command Center, set up at the Greece DPW today by the State Department of Financial Services. But many left frustrated after learning the purpose of the mobile center was to help them file their applications with their insurance companies and with FEMA.
Some said they appreciated the help, but others said they already know how to file an insurance claim. And some left disappointed because they expected to learn about a bill being considered by the State Legislature to help shoreline communities with flood damage. That bill has passed the Senate, but hasn’t yet been voted on by the Assembly.

Lake Ontario at the Rochester gauge stood at 248.45 feet, just under two-and-a-half feet this morning. The Army Corps of Engineers official figure is a record high 248.6. A new forecast comes out tomorrow.
High water flooding is muted with more favorable winds this week, but it’s still a danger. Irondequoit has received 2,000 more sandbags from the New York DOT with help from the National Guard.
