AG Erich Schneiderman-Nicotine NewserNew York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says Henrietta’s York Furniture will pay a $10,000 civil penalty to settle charges of engaging in deceptive acts and making false statements in its advertising.

The AG’s office says York advertised a “warehouse closing” sale when they weren’t closing the warehouse, and were shipping in new furniture. That’s a violation of New York State law.

Schneiderman says York advertised a “five-day going out of business sale” in Henrietta, saying their warehouse was closing and sales would be limited to stock on hand. He says that clearly wasn’t true, and York has signed an agreement not to do it again.
