A 65-year-old Yates County man is dead after fire ripped through his home Wednesday afternoon.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Office says Myron Worboys was pronounced dead at the scene after his body was found inside his mobile home on Sunnyside Road in the Town of Italy. That’s at the southern tip of Canandaigua Lake.
Sheriff Ron Spike said oxygen cylinders in the house kept exploding, posing a hazard for firefighters who also had to bring water in by tanker and pump it from a nearby creek.
There’s no word yet on how the fire started.
