A three-year-old Wyoming County boy is recovering after being accidentally shot through the chest and shoulder with a .45 caliber handgun.
Wyoming County Sheriff Gregory Rudolph says it happened on Saturday morning at a home in Bennington. The child came in contact with his father’s legally registered gun in the living room of the family home. The 911 dispatcher advised the boy’s mother on how to treat his injuries until first responders arrived. He was taken to Children’s Hospital in Buffalo and was taken into surgery, which was successful.
An investigation is underway which will determine if anyone will face charges.
