The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says a would-be thief caught himself when he tried to break into the Pontillo’s Pizza at Route 441 and Five Mile Line Road in Penfield.
A man hanging Christmas lights at a plaza in Penfield heard someone yelling for help early this morning and called 911. Deputies searched the area and finally they found 53-year-old Richard Graham of Rochester stuck in an air duct on the roof.
The sheriff’s office says Graham had tried to climb through the exhaust ducts from the pizza ovens and gotten wedged in so tightly he had to be extricated by the Penfield Fire Department.
He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and then arraigned in Penfield court on burglary and criminal mischief charges. Deputies say he caused about $2,000 damage to the vent.
Graham is being held without bail as a predicate felon.
