The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says it’s charged a 21-year-old Rochester parolee with an attempted purse snatching in Brockport that was thwarted by an onlooker.
Shundrell White has been charged with attempted robbery for trying to snatch an elderly woman’s purse outside the Gamestop Store on Nathanial Poole Trail. White is accused of jumping out of a purple Mazda in the parking lot and grabbing the woman’s purse. A bystander tackled him, the purse strap broke and both men fell onto the car. The suspect jumped back into the car and the driver took off, but they didn’t get the purse. The incident happened shortly before Christmas.
White was arrested at the Monroe County Jail where he was being held for violating parole.
