Rochester Police say street racing caused the death of a Greece woman who was run down while crossing Lake Avenue early Saturday morning.
They’ve charged two 39-year-old Rochester men with second degree manslaughter after seeing the results of a State Police accident reconstruction. Police identified the 46-year-old victim over the weekend as Laureen Greczyn of Greece.
Police say they were called to the area of Lake Avenue between Denise and Britton Roads in Charlotte at about 12:20 Saturday morning. They found Grecyn dead at the scene.
Investigation found she’d been hit by a southbound Mercedes-Benz driven by Jose Surrino. Police found Surrino had been drag racing against a car driven by Jose Vasquez. After Surrino’s car hit the woman he crashed into another car before coming to a stop.
