Back in July, a Rochester city garbage truck was trying to use its mechanical arm to pick up a garbage toter on the sidewalk when it hooked the arm of a sidewalk bench instead of the litter container, and unceremoniously dumped a woman who was sitting on the bench onto the ground.
The entire incident was captured on a store surveillance camera. The city released the video Tuesday in an effort to locate the woman, since identified as Nicola Hustleby. Hustleby told reporters she regularly sits on that South Avenue bench with a cup of coffee from the nearby store as she waits for her bus in the morning.
The truck driver got out and came to her aid and she suffered a cut on her elbow, plus some aches and pains. She says the driver got her another cup of coffee and a pack of cigarettes before leaving.
The driver has since retired, according to City Public Works.
