First responders say a female patient was conscious and breathing after going over the Lower Falls of Letchworth State Park this afternoon.
The 59-year-old woman was sitting on a ledge above the Genesee River, when State Park Police say she fell into the river and was swept over the 60-foot drop.
Fire and rescue crews say she was airlifted by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where she was treated and released. Police say her injuries were minor.
Last month two children were drowned when seven people were swept over the falls while wading in the river. People aren’t supposed to be in the water at that location.
