A Monroe County woman has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for deliberately smashing her family’s minivan into a utility pole, killing her husband. The couple’s three children were in the back seat of the car and were uninjured. Their iPhone video of the event became evidence for the prosecution.
Jennie Clark, 44, was driving drunk when she intentionally crashed into the pole on Colby Street during an argument with her husband. She asked if he wanted to die moments before the crash.
The family was returning from a July 4th party in 2021 when the crash took place. Clark pleaded guilty to attempted murder and vehicular homicide.
The defense read letters from Clark’s daughter and in-laws, both saying the incident was out of character for Jennie Clark.
