A crash that happened during the annual street celebrations after Rochester’s Puerto Rican Festival has claimed a woman’s life.
A car rolled over on Remington Street, crashing through a fence and landing upside down. 21-year-old Unique Kearse had apparently been hanging out the car window, sitting on its edge when the car flipped. Kearse was pinned under the upturned car and died after being taken by ambulance to Rochester General Hospital.
The crash happened about 9:45 as police were working to disperse crowds from Northeast Rochester streets. They haven’t released details, but reports quoting neighbors say a man was hanging out the car window and fell into the street. When the driver turned back, apparently to check on him, the car rolled.
