Rochester Police are investigating after a woman was killed at a South Avenue liquor store on Thursday afternoon.

Police were called just before 5:00 p.m. for a possible robbery at Char’s South Avenue Wine and Liquor at 1409 South Avenue. The officers found a woman in her 40s lying on the floor, suffering from trauma to her upper body.  First responders gave CPR and first aid, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputy Police Chief Scott Peters told reporters a customer walked in, found the woman on the floor and called 911. Police aren’t saying if she was a store employee, and they have no arrest so far.

The investigation continues.
