Federal prosecutors say a Philadelphia man has been arrested by Homeland Security agents for allegedly giving false testimony more than five years ago during a deportation hearing in Rochester.
Acting U.S. Attorney James Kennedy says 51-year-old Isaac Kannah has been charged with perjury and obstruction of justice. Kannah testified in a 2011 deportation hearing in Rochester against former Liberian warlord George Boley, saying neither Boley nor his Liberian Peace Council armed faction were involved in recruiting child soldiers.
Prosecutors say Kannah lied on 11 points named in their complaint, including whether the LPC was an army and that child soldiers bore arms under Boley’s command.
