More than 10,000 homes and businesses across Western New York started Monday without electrical service after the ongoing windstorm blasted across the area Sunday evening and overnight.

RG&E reports more than 3,300 outages across Monroe County as this is written (8:30 a.m.).  Pittsford, Perinton, Ogden and Greece appear to be the towns most affected. Most of the current outages are still being assessed to get an estimated repair time.

National Grid reports several thousand outages to the west of Monroe in Orleans, Genesee and Wyoming Counties.

Damage was worse to the west of the Rochester area, although we did get several downed trees blocking roads, hitting houses and causing other damage.
