The RACF says they’ll use the money to create a permanent fund that will provide annual support for youth sports and recreation programs across the Greater Rochester area. The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Fund for Youth Sports at the Community Foundation will start taking grant applications in the Fall.
A local task force made up of organized community and school sports teams, plus recreation programs and other youth sports and recreation groups will advise the fund’s managers on local needs and priorities.
Although Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson was a Detroit native, he always considered Western New York including Rochester as a second home town because of the support he got for his team.
