Wilmorite has withdrawn its proposal to turn a disused soybean storage barn on the Erie Canal at Schoen Place into a hotel and spa complex.

The controversial proposal resulted in the Village of Pittsford imposing a development moratorium. Wilmorite planned tearing down three of the five disused buildings in favor of a 90-room boutique hotel, spa and restaurant development. It said the project would have a “New England farm design.” The other two buildings would have been rehabbed.

The Village confirms the application was pulled, but says it expects another one once the year-long moratorium expires this coming November.

Wilmorite President Paul Wilmot also confirmed the application has been pulled. The company says it will continue to work with the Powers family, which owns the land.
