Former Monroe County legislator Willie Lightfoot is running for one of the five at-large seats coming up for election this year on the Rochester City Council.
Two of the incumbents aren’t running for re-election, so at least two new faces will be on the council next year.
Lightfoot is retiring after 20 years as a city firefighter. He served in the legislature representing the Dutchtown Neighborhood until forced to retire by term limits. If he gets one of the Democratic nominations, he’s virtually assured of election in November.
