The wife of a man who was seriously injured during the Rochester air show in 2009 is trying to collect a $20 million judgement from Monroe County.
That year, the ESL Air Show was flown from the airport with the planes and aerobatic teams performing over Ontario Beach Park. That’s where Shane Full of Kenmore was struck by a car while crossing Beach Avenue. He suffered brain injury and was disabled.
The teenage driver’s insurance company paid $1.3 million, but Full’s wife then sued LeBeau Incorporated, the show producer. They won a $20 million judgement, but by then LeBeau had lost its contract to produce events for the county and closed up shop with nothing left in the til. Kari Anne Full then turned on the county and is demanding the $20 million from the taxpayers.
A State Supreme Court Justice has already ruled the county and the airport authority are exempt from liability.
