Anthony Daniele says it’s been three hard years, but plans to build a downsized Whole Foods plaza in Brighton have turned into a “win, win, win” for his company, the community and the Town of Brighton. Two key pieces of legislation, the project’s environmental impact study and an incentive zoning application, were approved by the town board last night.
Daniele says the company remains committed to making the store happen on Monroe Avenue and to providing variety in grocery shopping choices following the bankruptcy declaration by Tops Markets. Daniele says there’s still some legal opposition to the project, for which he blamed Wegmans Markets last night. Wegmans denies it’s behind any opposition to the project.
The project now goes to the Town Planning Board for site approval.
