The developers of a proposed Whole Foods complex in Brighton have filed suit, demanding $650,000 in damages from State Assemblyman Joe Errigo, former Monroe County Democratic staffer Joe Rittler, and eight other people known only as “John Does one-through-nine.”
According to the complaint filed in federal court in Rochester, The Daniele Family’s development company accuses them of taking bribes in order to introduce legislation that would have made it harder to get local approval for the project.
The complaint is substantially the same as contained in the federal corruption case against Errigo and others which led to the assemblyman’s arrest earlier this fall.
