Protesters marched outside as inside, supporters and opponents of a Whole Foods in Brighton, and their lawyers, spent hours giving their opinions about the controversial project. Inside the Council Rock School there were too many people for the main auditorium, and hundreds had to go to an overflow room. Others couldn’t even get in.
In three years since it was announced for the corner of Monroe Avenue and Clover Street, the Whole Foods proposal still has the power to divide; between people who say it will bring too much additional traffic to Monroe Avenue and those who say it will bring new revenue and help the area.
The Brighton Town Board took no action last night; it was a listening session only.
