Twenty-one cars and trucks piled up on the Thruway at the Batavia Exit about 2:00 Wednesday afternoon. State Police say the crash was due to weather conditions, and it forced them to close the eastbound lanes of the Thruway from Batavia to Leroy. Traffic was being diverted at the Batavia exit eastbound and the LeRoy exit westbound at last check.
State Police say a trooper suffered injuries in the crash but is expected to be OK. One driver also suffered minor injuries.
Whiteouts descended on I-390 about 2:00 p.m. Wednesday causing several crashes that led Monroe County Deputies to close the Interstate both ways for two hours.
390 was held to one lane each way by the airport during the night by the State DOT. It reopened Thursday morning.
