As a major lake effect snowstorm moves in on Western New York, Governor Kathy Hochul said the New York State Thruway will close to commercial trucks as of 4:00 p.m. Thursday between Exit 46 in Henrietta and the Pennsylvania State Line at Ripley.
Hochul made the announcement Wednesday afternoon and said signs are going up and troopers being readied to enforce the ban. She said it’s to avoid the nightmare of jacknifed trucks which blocked the Thruway during a similar snow event a few years ago.
Buffalo is expecting two-to-three inches of snow per hour from Thursday night to Saturday night, with some areas getting up to four feet.
