Rochester police say a homicide over the weekend in Rochester may be justified.

At about 4:30 Saturday afternoon, police were called to an address on Kenwood Avenue for a report of a man who shot a masked intruder in his home. They say officers arrived to find a man in his 20s dead of a gunshot wound after the occupant fired on him with a shotgun. Police also learned the masked man had accomplices who fired three-to-four shots into the apartment as they fled the scene.

Police recovered the shotgun and a loaded handgun.

No charges have been filed so far, and the Monroe County Medical Examiner is working to determine the dead man’s ID. The case will ultimately go to a grand jury for review.
