Webster police say they need time to do their work in the case of a grandmother struck and killed by an SUV on Empire Boulevard last month, and they say the can’t share any information about the case so far.
Police issued a statement Tuesday afternoon in the case of Oksana Zakharchysyn, who was killed while walking to get ice cream. Three members of her family were injured and taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where one remains in serious condition.
Police say they’ve received many questions about the investigation, which quickly turned up the SUV believed responsible for the accident in a Penfield garage, but has produced no charges so far.
Police say they have an “open and active case” and are doing a thorough investigation. They say they will not release any information that might jeapordize that investigation.
