The Wayne Central School Board is due to vote Thursday on cost-cutting measures, and may move to a single-campus system.
Superintendent Calvin Mathis is recommending that Freewill Elementary School be closed; a controversial move since it’s a fairly new building. He wants to consolidate Kindergarten through grade two at Ontario Primary School, third and fourth grades at Ontario Elementary, with the remaining students at the middle school and high school.
Calvin says he believes this is best for the students, for cost efficiency and for unity.
