Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren submitted her resignation letter to City Council on Tuesday, effective December 1st.
She agreed to resign Monday as part of a plea deal in the campaign finance case against her, pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge in order to preserve her law license. The deal also wiped out endangering the welfare of a child and illegal firearm charges linked to a search of her home that she shared with her estranged husband, Timothy Granison. Granison was charged as part of a drug distribution ring.
Deputy Mayor Jim Smith will take over as mayor for the month of December, until the new mayor elected in November is sworn in in January.
