Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren says the city is on the right track and getting the job done of making Rochester’s future as bright as its past.
The mayor delivered her final State of the City message tonight before making her bid for reelection this year, speaking at CGI Communications on East Main Street. In those four years, Warren says the city has invested in both its neighborhoods and downtown as well as its people. She says the city has created or retained 30,000 jobs and made progress against crime and for education.
Warren also said she feels blessed to lead a city at a time when cities are beacons of progressive values in for America.
Two other Democrats are challenging the mayor for the party’s nomination. Both were at the speech Monday night.
Rachel Barnhart called Warren “delusional” and said there’s no data to support her jobs claim. Former Police Chief Jim Sheppard said the mayor is using the good things happening downtown to cover up the ugly and the bad going on in city neighborhoods.
