Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren spoke of pulling the Democratic Party together last night after her resounding primary victory.
Warren took about 62 percent of the vote…with Democrats James Sheppard far behind at 22 percent, and Rachel Barnhart even farther behind at 16 percent. Sheppard said last night he’s dropping his campaign, although he’s still on the ballot as a candidate for the Independence and Working Families parties.
A little more than 25 percent of registered Democrats went to the polls, which was more than four years ago.
Last night, Mayor Warren told supporters her opponents challenged her successes, but Rochester Democrats believed in her and her positive message. Warren said she beat the Democratic establishment four years ago and now wants everyone’s help to heal the party’s divisions and help the city.
