Ontario County Sheriff Phil Povero is urging boaters to watch out on Canandaigua Lake due to floating debris.
The thunderstorms on Thursday caused flash flooding and carried logs and large tree limbs into the lake, many floating just under the surface. The sheriff says it’s safer to operate at no more than 5 miles per hour within 200 feet of shore.
Deputies patrolling the lake report finding a lot of debris that could heavily damage a boat…and the water is also unusually murky from the rains.
