Gates Police say a woman waiting in a checkout line at the Chili Avenue Walmart Sunday night made a comment about what a woman in the next line was wearing…and that set off a dust-up that ended with four people getting arrested.
Police say the wardrobe criticism caused a fight that involved some 30 people. One group actually ran back to the sporting goods section and grabbed softball bats, but by the time the armed party got back to the front of the store police had arrived, and took the bats away.
Police charged 17-year-old Nykia Brooks with assault, harassment and disorderly conduct after she allegedly beaned another person in the head with a can from her shopping cart. One man was charged with disorderly conduct and two others were given appearance tickets.
