The Florida man wanted for kidnapping a Southern Tier woman and holding her captive for eight days in Rochester has been captured.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says Cedrick Lamont Mitchell was caught while riding in a taxi cab on I-390 in the Town of Rush.
Mitchell came to the Rochester area from Sarasota, Florida, where he tracked down an ex-girlfriend and allegedly kidnapped her from her father’s house in Bath. He brought her to Rochester where he held her both at an area motel and in a stolen minivan. She escaped by jumping out while Mitchell was driving down West Main Street.
He was wanted for kidnapping and assault in Monroe County, and for assault in Florida.
