Rochester’s Abby Wambach says she’s arranged to have her brain donated to science after her death, to be used in CTE research. That’s the study of sports-related brain injury caused by repeated concussions and blows to the head.
Wamback appeared on Megyn Kelly’s TODAY this morning, saying it’s something she always brushed off during her playing career, but now wonders about after her career is over.
Wambach scored 40 percent of her 184 international goals with her head. She’s now teamed up with former NFL quarterbacks Brett Farve and Kurt Warner, and former Chicago Cubs Catcher David Ross to speak out about the danger of sports-related brain injury. She says players and their parents need to hear this information.
