Rochester police and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office released body-worn camera video late Friday afternoon of the March 20th shooting in a back yard off Barrington Street.

The footage shows officers and deputies pursuing Brendon Burns, who was shot to death as he ignored orders to drop a shotgun and raised it at the officers who surrounded him. The footage shows Burns dropping a sack on the ground a fishing the shotgun out of it, then repeatedly ignoring calls by officers to drop the weapon before taking aim.

The shooting remains under investigation by the New York State Attorney General’s Office.

The video shows police trying to stop Burns, who pulls out a hunting knife and threatens them. A deputy then fires at least one shot at him as then ran down the street. The pursuit ended in the backyard with multiple officers and deputies firing on Burns.

Officers immediately began lifesaving measures but Burns was pronounced dead at the scene
