The Strong Museum of Play has announced a dozen iconic video games as this year’s finalists for its Video Game Hall of Fame.
This year’s nominees are: Donkey Kong, Final Fantasy VII, Halo: Combat Evolved, Microsoft Windows Solitaire, Mortal Kombat, Myst, Pokemon Red and Green, Portal, Resident Evil, Street Fighter II, Tomb Raider, and Wii Sports. Each was chosen because of its impact on the world of gaming and popular culture.
Director Jon-Paul Dyson says they’re among the most influential games of all time.
Thousands of nominations were received from more than 100 countries for consideration this year. The inductees will be named in a ceremony on May 4th.
