Doctors have been forced to amputate a Rochester woman’s arm after she was mauled by a pit bull Wednesday. Mariah Schaffer remains in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital, along with the man police say is the dog’s owner.
Thirty-four year old Jamie Cruz was hit in the torso by a stray bullet or ricochet when police fired on and killed the dog.
Schaffer’s father says his daughter and Cruz have dated on-and-off for years and have an 11-year-old daughter together.
Police continue their investigation. So far nobody has been charged with a crime.
