A candidate who apparently lost a Republican Party primary by three votes has filed suit to stop certification of the election and force a hand recount of the ballots.
Peter Vazquez challenged Bob Zinck for the Republican nomination to run for the 138th Assembly District against Democrat Harry Bronson. On election night, Vazquez looked like the winner by six votes, but when the absentee ballots were counted the following week, Zinck led by three.
Vazquez filed Monday for a court order asking for a hand recount and visual inspection of all ballots because of the close race.
