Strong Museum of PlayRochester Police are checking video from security cameras as they try to figure out who or what smashed eight windows of the Strong Museum’s Butterfly Garden overnight.

Officials at the Strong Museum of Play say it apparently happened sometime around 2:00 a.m.  Police aren’t ready to say this was definitely vandalism. They say it could also have been caused by high winds during thunderstorms, since windows at the museum were broken that way a couple of years ago.

But a museum spokesman says they believe the windows were broken either by rocks or by a pellet gun. They say the interior windows are shatterproof glass, so the garden itself wasn’t affected.

The Strong Museum of Play opened as usual today and there was no damage to the interior.
