A University of Rochester Medical Center doctor accused of raping a hospital resident has filed a counter-suit in State Supreme Court. Doctor Johan Blickman says in the suit that his relationship with Doctor Katia Kaplan-List was consensual. He calls her suit “malicious, false and salacious,” and he’s seeking $60 million in damages.
Doctor Blickman is a pediatric radiologist, now on leave from the URMC after Kaplan-List filed her lawsuit last month. In it, she accused Blickman of drugging and raping her, and of trying to get her boyfriend to kill his ex-wife.
Blickman’s countersuit says he and Kaplan-List had a consensual romantic and sexual relationship that began after her last rotation at the URMC and ended two years later. Blickman says he was accused in June of 2016 of having an inappropriate relationship with her. He says the University of Rochester investigated and issued a report that said the relationship was consensual and didn’t violate any university policies.
Kaplan-List’s lawyer says she stands by the claims made in her lawsuit.
