An apology from University of Rochester President Joel Seligman and a professor’s announcement that he won’t be teaching this semester weren’t enough to head off a protest this evening on the university campus.

About 150 students wore red armbands and called for the firing of Dr. Florian Jaeger. The The professor of brain and cognitive science has been accused by 11 students and faculty members of sexual harassment and having sex with students.

One of the organizers, Lindsay Wrobel, says she’s going on a hunger strike until the university dismisses Jaeger. She said the university will have to make a choice over changing its policies versus her health.

Co-organizer Jenna Register tells 13 WHAM she believes the U of R  botched an internal investigation that found the charges against Jaeger unsubstantiated.

The 11 women have filed EEOC complaints against Dr. Jaeger. The university has until the end of the month to answer them.
