Strong Memorial Hospital is imposing visitor limitations because of the flu, hoping to limit its spread to members of the hospital staff and patients.
Strong says no visitors under 14 are permitted except that health siblings may see healthy newborn brothers and sisters. No more than two people plus a caregiver are allowed to visit a patient at one time. People with flu-like symptoms such as coughs and sore throat are asked to stay away.
This applies to UR Medicine’s Strong Memorial Hospital, Highland Hospital, the Golisano Children’s Hospital and the Wilmot Cancer Center.
Hospital officials say influenza is particularly dangerous for people who already have an underlying health issue.
