University of Rochester President Joel Seligman has submitted his resignation, effective February 28th.
President Seligman announced his resignation to university faculty and students by email and it was confirmed by the University administration.
In his letter of resignation to Board Chairman Danny Wegman, Seligman says it’s been the greatest honor of his life to head the U of R for the past 12-and-a-half years. But he says it’s now clear to him the best interests of the university will be served with new leadership and a fresh perspective to move the university forward.
Seligman says he made his decision before the Special Committee reported today on how the university handled the initial investigation into a professor accused of sexual misconduct.
