The United Way of Greater Rochester has launched its 100th Anniversary Campaign, plus a new approach to community giving. United Way says it will now have not one, but many goals through the year to fund agencies that serve the Rochester community.
Rather than setting a goal as they have for the past 99 years, United Way says it has the potential to raise more than $30 million this year. They hope to raise that amount through a year-long operation including gifts from some 500 lead donors, the annual workplace campaigns, the annual Day of Giving and other efforts.
In shifting to a year-round model, United Way head Jamie Saunders says they’ll top the $25.4 million raised through workplace campaigns last year.
