The man who was driving drunk when he crashed into a local pastor’s car in Clarkson more than a year ago has been sentenced to six-to-18 years in prison.
Efrain Lopez-Contreras will also have five years of post-release supervision, was required to give up his driver’s license and will have to have an ignition interlock device if he gets it back again.
The 30-year-old Lopez-Contreras crashed head-on into a vehicle carrying the Reverend Tony Bartolucci and his 14-year-old daughter, Gianna Bartolucci, on Christmas Eve in 2015. Gianna Bartolucci died some time later of her injuries at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Contreras was sentenced to five-to-16 years for manslaughter, one-and-one-third to four years for aggravated DWI and seven years for assault. He’ll serve all three sentences concurrently.
Lopez-Contreras is an undocumented immigrant. He could face deportation after his sentence is completed.
