The Buffalo Bills didn’t enter the 2019 NFL Draft as a team tabbed as one that would draft a quarterback. After all, they have Josh Allen under center.

But only minutes after the conclusion of the draft, ESPN’s Adam Schefter announced that the Bills’ first undrafted free agent signing would be a familiar player, who’s also a quarterback.

University at Buffalo QB Tyree Jackson signed with the Bills.

Upon the completion of the draft, the Bulls’ QB was one of ESPN’s top-ranked prospects that did not get drafted.

But Schefter’s report had an added nugget. Jackson will reportedly get a chance to push for Buffalo’s No. 2 job behind Allen.

Adam Schefter tweeted, “Undrafted Buffalo QB Tyree Jackson reached agreement with the Buffalo Bills on a deal that includes $75,000 guaranteed, per source. So some of the sting of not being drafted is softened by getting to stay home and to compete for the Bills’ No. 2 QB job.”

The Bills already have veterans Matt Barkley and Derek Anderson in the fold so Jackson will compete with them for a roster spot.

Allen also has another interesting link to Jackson. During the offseason, it was revealed that both Allen and Jackson worked out together in California with quarterback coach Jordan Palmer.

Allen and Jackson both mirror each other in terms of physical traits, too. Allen is a 6-foot-5, big-armed, mobile quarterback. Jackson is 6-foot-7, otherwise described as the same thing.

Here is a list of the Bills 2019 draft picks.
