Ontario County health officials say a patient with the U.K. variant of the coronavirus was detected in their county, one of 18 the state reported on Thursday.
Health officials say routine surveillance picked up the variant of COVID-19. They say people should just be aware of it and continue masking and social distancing as before.
Meanwhile, the Monroe County Health Department reported 13 deaths from COVID and 195 new cases as of Thursday afternoon.
