New York State Police and other agencies have arrested a shooting suspect around Waterloo as of Wednesday morning, after two people were reportedly shot to death in an apartment in the village. A third person was wounded, but is expected to survive.
A woman who witnessed the arrest at a Waterloo-area campground told the “Brother Wease” show on 95-1 FM that she didn’t know if the suspect was camping there, or if he just happened to be there when he was arrested. The man was arrested inside a camper that had been at the campsite for several days.
State Police say the incident happened about 11:30 Tuesday night. Waterloo residents got reverse 911 calls telling them to stay indoors while police searched for the male suspect. Police also blocked off the shooting scene.
Police found a man and a woman shot to death at the Virginia Street apartment. A second woman had been shot and critically injured. She’s being treated at Strong Memorial Hospital.
The suspect was described as a white male, five foot 11 inches tall, and weighing 165 pounds. He had blond hair and blue eyes. He was wearing jeans and a black vest, but no shirt. He may have been carrying a green bag.
