The Rochester Red Wings fell to the Indianapolis Indians, 9-3, on Tuesday night in the Hoosier State.
The loss also dropped the Red Wings (29-23) out of a first place tie with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (30-22) in the International League North Division.
Max Kepler doubled home James Beresford to give the Red Wings a 1-0 lead.
The Indians forged ahead with a pair of solo homers in the second and third frames against Rochester starter Jose Berrios.
Eddie Rosario blasted a solo homer in the fourth tie knot the count, but the Tribe responded with 3 runs in the home half to take control of the game.
The two teams resume their series on Wednesday night.
The parent Minnesota Twins continued to make some roster changes as they called up outfielder Byron Buxton. LHP Dan Runzler was reinstated to the Wings roster from the disabled list.

New York Yankees great Mariano Rivera headlined the Rochester Press-Radio Club’s 67th Day of Champions on Tuesday night at the Joseph Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
Prior to the festivities and awards, Rochester Knighthawks forward Joe Walters and Knighthawks Hall of Famer Jody Gage met fans at the VIP Reception.
This past season, Walters finished fourth on the team with 47 points in 15 games. The Irondequoit native was named the team’s Community Service Award winner for the seventh time in his 8-year career. The former University of Maryland star is a three-time NLL champion. He now also ranks 10th all-time in team history in games played with 103.
Gage is a local sports legend, having played professional hockey for the Rochester Americans before moving into the front office. Gage first joined the Knighthawks in 1996 and has been one of the key members of the team’s scouting department in his role as the Knighthawks VP of Player Personnel. During his tenure, Rochester has won 5 Champion’s Cups. He is the only person enshrined in both the Amerks and Knighthawks hall of fames.
Two award recipients have ties to the Knighthawks: Jim Vacanti and Matt Hossack. Vicanti, who is the sales manager at Zweigle’s, received the Eddie Meath Award. Zweigle’s is a longtime sponsor of the Knighthawks.
Hossack, who is the winner of the Rich Funke Jr. College Male Athlete Award, is the younger brother of Knighthawks defenseman Graeme Hossack. Matt recently completed his college career at RIT and is a 2-time Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year.
The awards ceremony concluded with Rivera receiving the Coca-Cola Sports Personality of the Year Award.
Since its inception in 1949, the Press-Radio Club has donated more than a million dollars to Rochester charities.

The North Carolina Tar Heels edged the Maryland Terrapins, 14-13, in the NCAA men’s lacrosse championshipgame on Monday in Philadelphia.
The Tar Heels scored a pair of late goals to send the game into overtime. It was UNC’s first title since 1991.
Matt Dunn (defense/7th overall pick of the Rochester Rattlers) for Maryland had a great game on Saturday in the semifinals overtime victory over Brown, scoring one goal, scooping up three ground-balls, and also recording two caused turnovers. He had another solid game on Monday, scooping up three ground balls and causing one turnover versus UNC.
“It’s the greatest feeling knowing that the journey didn’t end for us today,” Dunn said after the semifinals win. “And we have a couple more days together. Being a senior, that’s all I could ask.”

Western New York Flash forward Lynn Williams was voted the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Week by the NWSL Media Association for Week 7 of the 2016 NWSL season.
Williams, 23, had 2 goals to help the Flash earn a 4-0 victory over the Boston Breakers at Rhinos Stadium. It was the team’s second consecutive win at home this season.
The Fresno, CA., native registered her first goal of the game in the 64th minute when she tapped in a pass received inside the box from Michaela Hahn.
The Pepperdine University product scored just moments later in the 65th minute off a through ball outside the box from Meredith Speck. Williams maneuvered the ball around two Boston defenders and shot it past the left hand of Boston goalkeeper Jami Kranich.
Williams played all 90 minutes of the game and finished with three shots on goal.
It is the first time Williams has been honored as the NWSL Player of the Week. It is the ninth time a member of Western New York Flash has won the award.
Western New York Flash will return to action Saturday, June 11 at 7 p.m. against the Orlando Pride at Rhinos Stadium.
