A Canadian truck driver has been identified as the person whose vehicle struck and killed a Buffalo-area man as he walked on Route 63 in Geneseo last weekend. No charges have been filed yet, but the case remains under investigation.
Livingston County Sheriff Tom Dougherty says 54 year old Valeri Belioutsa from Thornhill, Ontario was driving a truck that hit 24-Nicholas Iannarelli, of East Amherst. The accident happened around 3 a.m. Saturday on Court Street, south of Route 63. His body was found after another truck driver called 911 to report his concerns about a man walking in the road.
Dougherty says Belioutsa’s truck was bound from Pennsylvania to Ontario, Canada, which is where his investigators talked to the owners of the truck and to the driver. They identified the truck through surveillance video supplied by people in the area of the accident and then tracked down the company and the specific truck involved.
