State Police have charged a 30-year-old Palmyra man after a scuffle with officers at a convenience store on North Main Street in the Village of Newark.

Troopers, Wayne County Deputies and Newark Police all responded to reports of a large disturbance at around 2:30 in the morning. While they were breaking up the disturbance, they say Dwayne Woolfolk punched another man in the back of the head and tried to run away. A trooper tackled him, but Woolfolk resisted and there was a struggle in which the trooper’s left hand was seriously injured.

Woolfolk was charged n Newark Court with Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct and other offenses. He’s being held on $5,000 bail.
